About the Artwork
More Freckled Guy revisits one of my earlier paintings, Freckled Guy (2018), through the lens of time and experience. While remaining faithful to the atmosphere, palette, and composition that originally inspired the work, this painting is not a replica but a new interpretation created eight years later.
The young man turns away from the viewer, absorbed in his own thoughts. Surrounded by tropical leaves, dramatic shadows, and playful turquoise dots, he inhabits a space that feels both intimate and dreamlike. The additional freckles scattered across his skin emphasize individuality and vulnerability, becoming a quiet celebration of the small details that make every person unique.
Like many of my paintings, More Freckled Guy explores beauty, longing, and the fleeting nature of youth. It is both a continuation and a transformation — a conversation between past and present, between the artist I was and the artist I have become.
